Meet Our Support Staff
Our healthcare team "paraprofessionals" include a Practice Manager, Receptionists, Certified Animal Health Technician (Tech Supervisor), Non-certified Veterinary Technicians, and Veterinary Assistants. Each member of our team embraces our mission of "Absolute Love of Pets". They pursue continuing education to keep current on the latest medical advances and techniques.
Cardiology Northwest utilizes the same support staff as Barbur Blvd. Veterinary Hospital, in addition to having a specially trained technician to assist with cardiology procedures and support the special needs of our cardiology patients and their owners.
You can meet the rest of our staff by clicking on Barbur Blvd Veterinary Staff.
Kiri, Veterinary Technician (Cardiology)
Kiri has been with BBVH since 2001. Joining the clinic as an assistant, she cared for boarding and hospitalized patients, while keeping everything squeaky clean and tidy. In the fall of 2002 she was trained to become a receptionist. In the following three years she continued to develop a relationship with the owners of the pets she loves so much.
In March 2005 she was offered the opportunity to become a technician and work side by side with Dr. Wood. Since then she has gained knowledge in Cardiology as well as general practice. Her primary duties consist of taking and developing radiographs, performing ECG tracings, drawing blood and assisting Dr. Wood and Dr. Atkinson with all cardiac procedures as well as keeping him organized. If you have any questions or concerns with Cardiology or VetCentric, Kiri is the one to contact.
During her spare time she finds happiness on her motorcycle. She also enjoys everything the Portland area has to offer--from the performing arts and music to the hiking trails and nature parks. Kiri and her husband Tom share their home with three kitties: Daphne, Leeloo, and Kitty. She also keeps the company of her Doberman Porter.
“I am very fortunate to work with Dr. Wood and Dr. Atkinson, and specialize in Cardiology. I am able to help improve the quality of life in our furry companions every day. They fill my work day with joy and it is a pleasure to befriend their owners."
Jessica Fjosne, CVT
Jessica came to Portland Oregon from the beautiful town of McCall Idaho. She graduated from the veterinary technician program with an associate in science degree from The College of Southern Idaho in 2006. She has been in the veterinary profession for over 15 years and her passion for veterinary medicine complements the hospital's "Absolute Love for Pets" philosophy. She views her career as a vocation and not just a job. The opportunity to help four-legged furry friends and their guardians gives her the satisfaction and enthusiasm to exceed expectations in offering paramount care through knowledge.
She is the proud caretaker of a ball-driven yellow Labrador named Hunter, a rescue bulldog-boxer mix named Ondi (fond of watching life lazily from furniture of choice) and Ms. China, a beautiful and ever-demanding lilac point rescue kitty. In her time off she loves to listen to music with friends, play with her pooches, explore Oregon, cook, and watch movies.
