Dr. Gary L. Wood

Dr. Gary L. Wood owns Barbur Blvd. Veterinary Hospital and Cardiology Northwest.  He received his DVM degree from Colorado State University in 1973.  Dr. Wood then travelled east for his internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston.  He completed a residency in cardiovascular medicine at the University of California at Davis.

Dr. Wood was granted Diplomate status by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in the specialty of Cardiology in 1978.  Since that time, Dr. Wood has been a pioneer of private specialty practice in the Pacific Northwest and enjoys a reputation for excellence and service with veterinarians and clients throughout the region.  When not at the clinic, Dr. Wood is an avid fly fisherman and fly tier.  He has a cat named Rocky and a pug named Lucy.

Dr. Kathryn Atkinson

We are proud to announce an addition to the Cardiology Service at Cardiology Northwest!  Dr. Kathryn Atkinson will be joining our practice mid-July, 2008 after completing her Cardiology residency and Master's degree program at the University of Missouri. 

Dr Atkinson completed her internship and veterinary degree at the Ontario Veterinary College.  Her professional career includes 4 years practicing general medicine and emergency medicine in Ottawa and Vancouver. 

Dr. Atkinson enjoys snorkeling, travelling and culinary pursuits.  She shares her home with "Mikhail", a Doberman, a King Charles Cavalier, two Devon Rex cats, and her husband, Tom.

"My favorite part of my job is to hear a pet owner tell me how much we have improved the quality of their pet's life, and given them hope".
